Principal & Founder of Block | Reid, Russell M. Reid, has had a long and extensive career in representing clients in all phases of family law.
Since graduating from Loyola University of Chicago in 1994, Russell has practiced almost exclusively in family law. He drafts and negotiates prenuptial agreements, handles complex financial analysis, and litigates or resolves custody/parenting, support/maintenance, property division, and domestic violence matters—including enforcement and modification cases.
In an ideal world, parties can settle their disputes amicably. However, all family law litigation has its genesis in an emotional relationship between two people that is ending or has ended. Since every relationship is different, each family law case has its own unique set of facts and dynamics. Most approaches to family law conflicts reflect talking points formulated through marriages of the relationship’s “order,” but at a stage that not only encompasses the trial but also extends beyond their dissolution. This analysis also has a profound impact on case outcomes.
Every case is different; the strategy should be too.
Russ is the current president of Forensic Forum, an association of legal and mental health professionals whose primary focus is the intersection of family law and mental health. He is also on the court-approved list of child representatives.
Russell has been named to the Super Lawyers list by Illinois Super Lawyers Magazine. He also has the distinction of being recognized by the Illinois legal community as a Leading Lawyers top family law attorney. The designation of being a Leading Lawyer is limited to the top 5 percent of lawyers licensed to practice in Illinois.
