2027 Super Lawyers Names Five Block | Reid Attorneys
CHICAGO, IL — Block | Reid announced today that five attorneys earned recognition in the 2027 Super Lawyers® and Rising Stars lists. Gloria E. Block, Russell M. Reid, Julia M. Copeland, and Gabriela O. Asrow made the Super Lawyers list. Jonas M. Hwang was named a Rising Star.
Super Lawyers® selects attorneys on a state-by-state basis each year. The process combines peer nominations, independent research, and evaluations across 12 indicators of professional achievement. Rising Stars recognizes attorneys earlier in their careers who meet the same standard of peer recognition. In Illinois, selected attorneys were notified on August 9, 2026. The 2027 list will be published in the Illinois Super Lawyers magazine on January 20, 2027.
Gloria E. Block, Principal and Founder, focuses her practice on custody and visitation matters. She has built a reputation among judges and fellow attorneys as an advocate for children in difficult custody disputes. This year's recognition adds to a string of past honors. Block earned Super Lawyers distinctions in 2023 and 2024. The Best Lawyers in America® recognized Gloria in its 2027 edition. Law Bulletin Media also named her to its 2025 Top Women in Law list. Russell M. Reid, Principal and Founder, practices almost exclusively in family law. He handles prenuptial agreements, complex financial analysis, and custody, support, and property division matters. Reid served as president of the Forensic Forum, an association connecting family law and mental health professionals. He also sits on the court-approved list of child representatives. He has also been recognized as a Leading Lawyer. The distinction is limited to the top five percent of attorneys licensed in Illinois. Gabriela O. Asrow, Managing Partner, is a certified mediator, guardian ad litem, and parenting coordinator in Cook County. She also holds a collaborative divorce certification through Collaborative Divorce Illinois. Asrow volunteers with SHALVA's Legal Committee, supporting victims of domestic violence. Julia M. Copeland, Partner, has practiced family law exclusively since 2010. She works with clients on cases ranging from uncontested divorces to high-net-worth estates. Copeland is a certified mediator who focuses on resolving cases efficiently while managing the financial impact on her clients. Julia Copeland has been named to the list of Illinois Leading Lawyers since 2022.
Jonas M. Hwang, Associate Attorney, was named a 2027 Rising Star. Hwang advises clients on parental responsibilities, parenting time, child support, and property division. He sits on the DePaul Schiller DuCanto & Fleck Family Law Center Advisory Board. He also speaks English, Korean, and French.
