Gloria Block Named to 2025 Top Women In Law
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 2025
Block | Reid is proud to announce that Gloria E. Block, Principal & Founder, has been named one of Law Bulletin Media’s 2025 Top Women in Law. Gloria will be honored at the 6th Annual Women in Law: Leaders Leaning In celebration on Wednesday, November 19, at Prime & Provisions in Chicago. The event recognizes influential women in the legal profession who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, professional success, and a commitment to advancing other women in the field.
For more than four decades, Gloria has devoted her practice to protecting children and securing stable futures for families throughout Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. Her recognition as a 2025 Top Women in Law honoree reflects not only her professional accomplishments but also her longstanding dedication to mentorship, leadership, and service within the legal community.
Gloria began her legal career as a prosecutor in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, where she successfully prosecuted hundreds of cases. That early courtroom experience shaped the trial skills and disciplined preparation that have defined her work in family law ever since. Over the course of her career, she has represented thousands of clients in negotiating and litigating complex family law matters, earning a reputation as both a formidable trial lawyer and a thoughtful, strategic advocate.
Mentored by her father, Arnold Block, Gloria built her practice on a clear principle: children must remain at the center of every family law case. Judges and attorneys regularly appoint her to serve as a Guardian ad Litem and Child Representative in difficult custody and parenting time disputes. In these court-appointed roles, she is entrusted with evaluating sensitive family dynamics and providing recommendations grounded in the child's best interests. This work demands neutrality, discretion, and deep understanding.
Gloria’s leadership extends beyond the courtroom. She is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago School of Law and earned her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University. Throughout her career, she has remained active in professional organizations, including the Illinois State Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, the Decalogue Society of Lawyers, and the Forensic Forum. She has served as an elected member of the Illinois State Bar Association’s Family Law Section Council and as an arbitrator for the Cook County Bar Association. She is also a frequent speaker, lecturer, and author, and previously served as an Adjunct Professor at Loyola University School of Law, helping shape the next generation of legal professionals.
Her recognition by Law Bulletin Media adds to a long list of professional honors. Gloria has been named an Illinois Super Lawyer for many years, including recognition as one of the Top 100 lawyers in Illinois and the Top 50 women lawyers in the state. These distinctions reflect consistent peer recognition for excellence, integrity, and leadership.
The Women in Law: Leaders Leaning In celebration honors attorneys who not only excel in their own practice areas but also serve as role models and mentors to others. Gloria’s career exemplifies those qualities. Through decades of service, she has demonstrated that strong advocacy and compassion are not mutually exclusive—and that effective family law representation requires both.
Please join us in congratulating Gloria E. Block on this well-earned honor and in celebrating her continued commitment to putting families first. Her leadership remains a cornerstone of Block | Reid’s mission and a guiding force for the firm’s future.
